Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification by time of hire; certification within one year.
• Licensed as Genetic Counselor in Utah.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience reading and evaluating scientific literature.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheets, database use, e-mail, and scheduling.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies.
• Educate providers on genetic testing options, insurance, billing, test results, and management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling on genetic testing options or results.
• Conduct utilization review and lab stewardship to ensure proper test ordering.
• Participate in research projects; prepare manuscripts for journals.
• Communicate clearly with providers and patients.
• Engage in peer review with colleagues.
