Intermountain Health is seeking a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The position requires aMaster's degree in Genetic Counseling, ABGC eligibility within a year of hire, Utah licensure, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification at hire with certification within one year.
• Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience reading and critically evaluating scientific literature.
• Experience using PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance, billing, test results, and management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling regarding genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review/lab stewardship to ensure proper test ordering and manage complex cases.
• Participate in research projects and prepare manuscripts for publication.
• Communicate clearly with providers and patients.
• Engage in peer review with colleagues.
