Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health contract work and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. While some patient consultation is occasionally involved, the role primarily focuses on development, implementation, and quality review of clinical genetic testing.

This fully remote position can also accommodate hybrid or in-person work. The role emphasizes collaboration with ordering providers, utilization review, and research activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification within hire; certification required within one year.
• Licensed as Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience reading and evaluating scientific literature.
• Experience with PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheets, internet, email, and scheduling.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests and medical coverage policies.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance and billing matters, test results, and medical management.
• Provide patient education and counseling regarding genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review/lab stewardship to determine proper test ordering.
• Participate in research projects and prepare manuscripts for journals.
