Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health contract work and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The role primarily focuses on development, implementation, and quality review of clinical genetic testing, with occasional patient consultation.

The position can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person, with a 40-hour week and a daytime schedule. The hourly range is $43.09–$66.47, and interviews may be conducted via Teams, with potential onsite

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) at time of hire with completion of certification within one year.
• Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in reading, interpreting, and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
• Experience using PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling.
• Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies to support Select Health initiatives.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance and billing matters, test results, and medical management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling regarding genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review/lab stewardship to determine proper test ordering by provider and manage high priority or complex cases.
• Participate in research projects with opportunities to present at professional meetings; prepare manuscripts for submission to journals.
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written form to providers and patients.
• Participate in peer review by giving and receiving feedback.
