Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health work and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and reviewing the quality of clinical genetic testing.

You will provide direct laboratory genetic counseling to ordering providers and patients, with education on test options, insurance and billing, and medical management. The role includes research and peer review opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program (verification provided).
• Eligible for ABGC certification at time of hire with certification required within one year.
• Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in Utah.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience reading and evaluating scientific literature.
• Strong skills with PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Support Select Health pre-authorization reviews, appeals, and medical coverage policies.
• Educate providers on genetic testing options, insurance, billing, test results and medical management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling on genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review/lab stewardship for proper test ordering and complex cases.
• Participate in research projects and prepare manuscripts for journals.
