Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to drive policy language for aggressive state and product expansion. You will draft complete state and product form packages, perform regulatory reviews, and advise internal teams on coverage interpretation.

Reporting to Senior Insurance Counsel, you will anchor one line (auto or property) and back up the other, ensuring filings are ready and compliant as Kin launches in new states through 2027 and beyond.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience or related coverage interpretation.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes and translate requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Track record of independently drafting complete forms packages from research to filing-ready.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and advocate for Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft new state and product forms packages including base policies, endorsements, and notices for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and escalate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kits for your line, including UM/UIM and other notices.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed up state package production.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
