Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to turn aggressive state and product expansion into policy language that holds up. This role anchors the Forms team within Legal & Compliance, drafting personal auto or property forms for multiple states and serving as a trusted advisor on coverage interpretation.

Qualifications

• JD degree and admission to practice.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and converting requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, from initial research to filing-ready

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and notices ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state package production.
• Design and deliver internal training on Kin's policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs or coverage changes
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and regulatory compliance; establish guardrails for AI usage.
• Maintain and update forms packages in response to statutes, regulations, and DOI bulletins
