Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks an Insurance Counsel - Forms to draft policy language for personal auto or property as Kin expands into new states. You will anchor a line, conduct statutory research, draft filing-ready forms, respond to regulator objections, and advise internal teams on coverage interpretation.

Remote-first with opportunities across multiple states; JD and 5+ years’ drafting required. You'll work closely with Regulatory, Claims, Product, and Underwriting teams to ensure forms meet state

Qualifications

• JD and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal auto or property forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes/regulations and translate into policy language.
• Experience drafting regulator objections responses for form filings.
• Ability to advise stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Proven track record drafting complete forms packages from research to filing.

Responsibilities

• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and required notices, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms drafted within the Forms team, and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Advise internal partners (Claims, Product, Underwriting, Sales & Customer Service) on coverage interpretation guidance to reduce escalations.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms, coverage interpretation, and state regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business to ensure no launch depends on a single person.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs or coverage changes before they reach the form-drafting stage.
• Review AI-assisted drafts and research for regulatory compliance and establish guardrails for AI usage.
