Job summary

Kin Insurance, Inc. is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to own policy language for new state launches. You’ll draft and file forms, perform regulatory reviews, and advise internal teams on coverage interpretation while expanding personal auto and property lines across multiple states.

You’ll lead form packages, set drafting standards, and train teams, with remote-first work across the U.S. This role anchors state-specific filing programs for Kin’s growth trajectory.

Qualifications

• JD degree required and licensed to practice law.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience for personal lines across multiple states.
• Experience reading state statutes/regulations and converting requirements into policy language.
• Ability to draft responses to regulator objections and defend form wording.
• Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Track record of independently delivering complete forms packages for filing.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete state and product forms packages for your line of business, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms drafted by the team and escalate novel state-law questions.
• Build and maintain base forms and state kits for your line of business across personal auto and property.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed future filings.
• Deliver internal training on policy forms, coverage interpretation, and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before form drafting starts.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for regulatory compliance and establish guardrails.
