Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks an Insurance Counsel - Forms to draft policy language for new state launches and product expansions. You will anchor one line (personal auto or property) and back up the other, serving as the drafting owner for that line and advising on form meaning and regulatory exposure.

You will research statutes, draft filing-ready forms, respond to regulator objections, and collaborate with Claims, Product, and CX teams to ensure compliant, clear policy language across states.

Qualifications

• JD degree required and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience or related claims/coverage experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes/regulations and translate into policy language.
• Experience drafting regulator objections responses and advocating with regulators.
• Ability to advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and form wording.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to regulator objections on forms and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide coverage interpretation and form wording advice to internal teams (Claims, Product, CX).
• Draft complete state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, notices.
• Perform first-pass legal review and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to accelerate future state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and state regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
