Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to drive policy language for aggressive state and product expansion. You will own the drafting for your line (personal auto or property) and back up the other line as needed.

You will advise on form wording and handle first-pass legal reviews to address novel state law questions. You will collaborate with Claims, Product, and Customer Experience, shaping policy forms, coverage interpretation, and regulatory responses.

Qualifications

• JD required and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience reading state insurance statutes and translating into policy language.
• Ability to advise business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and form wording.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation to internal partners and during audits.
• Draft new state and product forms packages, including base policies, endorsements, and notices.
• Review forms and escalate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain base forms and state kits for the line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state-package production.
• Deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
