Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to craft policy language for new state launches and product lines. You will draft base policies, endorsements, and notices, ensuring filing readiness and regulatory compliance across states.

The role anchors personal auto or property lines and serves as a trusted advisor on coverage interpretation within Legal & Compliance. You will research statutes, respond to insurance regulators, and build reusable form packages while mentoring

Qualifications

• JD degree required.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes and regulations directly and convert to policy language.
• Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to regulator objections on forms and advocate for Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain base forms and reusable state kit for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state packaging.
• Design and deliver internal training on Kin's policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before form drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for regulatory compliance and establish guardrails.
