ESR Healthcare is seeking a Certified Inpatient Medical Coder to work remotely in the United States on a contract basis. The role requires analyzing inpatient records, ensuring compliant ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, and validating MS-DRG assignments with attention to CCs/MCCs and HACs.

Qualifications

• Active certification in CIC or CCS or AHIMA/AAPC certs (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, COC).
• Inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding experience.
• Access to up-to-date ICD-10-CM/PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance.
• Availability of at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding per guidelines.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coding integrity.
• Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and sequence codes per Official Guidelines; assign POA indicators.
• Validate MS-DRG assignment, including CCs and MCCs; flag HACs and patient safety indicators.
• Evaluate AI-generated notes against real-world documentation and coding standards.
• Code AI-generated information using ICD-10-CM/PCS classification.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain data integrity.
• Provide written feedback on coding errors to improve model performance.
