Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The candidate will handle inpatient and outpatient coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS references, and aim for accurate DRG assignments. Immediate start date; a test may be required to assess IP/OP coding skills.

Requirements include at least 5 years IP PCS coding experience, CCS certification, and preferred 3 years OP coding. System experience includes Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certificate is required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments with computer system support.
• Maintain steady productivity and coding quality.
• Hold accounts when more information is needed and coordinate with staff.
• Stay current on coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management with reliability.
• Seek continuing education opportunities.
• Work as a team member to meet goals for the department and clients.
• Perform related duties or special projects as required.
