Required certification from AAPC or AHIMA and an Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and EMR/Coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes.
• Adhere to Official Coding Guidelines and regulatory compliance.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases for all patient types.
• Apply query guidelines and obtain documentation clarification as needed.
• Serve as subject matter expert to coding leaders and peers.
• Maintain continuing education and stay updated on coding changes.
