Job summary

Adventist HealthCare seeks an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist for its Medical Coding Department. The role focuses on inpatient coding, using encoder systems, and ensuring compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes while supporting accurate hospital reporting and revenue integrity.

Requirements include a health information management-related degree and CCS/RHIT/RHIA certifications. A CPC holder must obtain CCS within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

• Formal education in Health Information Management or a related field.
• Certification required: CCS and/or RHIT and/or RHIA.
• Candidates with CPC must obtain CCS within 6–12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes encoder and related systems for coding.
• Apply coding per regulatory guidelines and data capture.
• Prioritize and organize coding work to meet deadlines.
• Maintain quality and production targets.
• Abstract inpatient accounts for hospital reporting to state and federal outlets.
• Stay current with coding trends and guidelines.
• Adhere to official coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS).
• Support revenue integrity and issue resolution affecting reimbursement.
