Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to review complex medical records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient services. You will follow official guidelines, ensure accurate coding for reimbursement, and collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to align DRGs.

The role requires 7 years of inpatient coding experience in acute care, AHIMA/AAPC or equivalent certification, and an associate degree in Health Information Management.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Experience with EMR and coding software in a payer-compliant environment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign proper codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Ensure accurate code selection following Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards; support discharged not final billed (DNFB).
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and ensure accurate reimbursements.
• Attend updates on codes for complex specialties and participate in payer audits.
