Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join our Appeals & Denials Department. You will identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts to optimize claims in compliance with state and federal rules.

The role requires CPT coding on observation accounts when applicable and collaboration with CDI, HIM, and management. Remote work is available for qualified candidates, with 3–5 years coding experience and AHIMA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA or CCS certification preferred.
• 3-5 years coding knowledge required.
• Remote opportunity; must work in approved states.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts per rules.
• Apply CPT-4 codes on observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to billing system for claims.
• Complete coding for discharged accounts daily to meet A/R goals.
• Work with ACHA, DNFB and Denials reports as applicable.
• Advise and coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on documentation.
• Mentor coders, CDI and staff; perform auditing and training.
• Use basic computer skills, encoder software and EHR.
