Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join the Appeals & Denials Department. The coder will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts to optimize claims processing in line with state and federal requirements.

The role requires 3–5 years of acute care coding experience, CPT-4 coding for Observation when needed, and proficiency with an encoder and EHR systems. Remote work is allowed in approved states, and collaboration with CDI/HIM is essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in an acute care setting.
• 3–5 years coding knowledge in inpatient environments.
• Proficient with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and EHR tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis/procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Apply CPT-4 codes for Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to billing for claim submission.
• Maintain Coding A/R goals with accurate coding for discharged accounts.
• Collaborate with Management, CDI and HIM for documentation and auditing.
