Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join the Appeals & Denials Department in a remote role. Responsibilities include coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4 support on observation accounts, and submitting abstracts for billing.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience and AHIMA credentials (RHIT, RHIA, CCS). This remote position requires compliance with state approvals and coding accuracy.

Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA certification from AHIMA.
• CCS certification from AHIMA required.
• 3–5 years inpatient coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS on inpatient accounts.
• Know CPT coding classification, edit resolution, and CPT-4 codes on observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to billing system for claims submission.
• Meet Coding AR targets and work A/R reports and denials as applicable.
• Coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on coding documentation.
• Provide mentorship and auditing support to Coders, CDI and other staff.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication and independent work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in computer use and able to operate a computerized encoder and EHR.
