Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. seeks an Inpatient Hospital Coder to join the Appeals & Denials Department in a remote capacity serving approved states. The role requires 3–5 years of acute care coding experience and RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials or equivalents.

Responsibilities include ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding, abstract submission, collaboration with CDI/HIM, and mentorship of peers. Strong time management and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required
• RHIT or RHIA or CCS (AHIMA) Required
• 3-5 Years Experience in an Acute Care Setting Required
• 3-5 Years Coding Knowledge Required
• 3-5 Years Experience working in an Acute Care setting Required

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS to patient accounts for inpatient care.
• Be knowledgeable of CPT coding and assign CPT-4 codes on Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission.
• Maintain Coding A/R goals by processing 100% of discharged accounts daily.
• Work with ACHA, DNFB and Post Bill Error reports as applicable.
• Advise and coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on coding documentation.
• Provide mentorship, auditing and training support to Coders and CDI staff.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain focus, attention to detail and strong time management.
• Utilize a computerized encoder and EHR effectively.
