Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Hospital Coder for a remote role in our Appeals & Denials Department. The candidate will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes, validate chart abstraction, and support billing workflows from home.

Requirements include RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials and 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience. Strong communication and computer skills with experience in an encoder and EHR are essential.

Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA or CCS certification required (AHIMA).
• High School Diploma required; RHIT/RHIA/CCS preferred.
• 3-5 years inpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Assign CPT-4 codes on observation accounts when applicable.
• Submit abstracted data to billing system for claim submission.
• Maintain coding accuracy to meet A/R goals and denials reduction.
• Collaborate with CDI, HIM, and management; assist and mentor staff.
