Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join our Appeals & Denials Department at Baptist Metro Square. This role focuses on accurately coding inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS to support compliant claims.

The position is remote with states approved for telework. Candidates should have RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials and 3–5 years of coding experience, with strong analytical and communication skills. High School Diploma required.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of inpatient coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Experience with CPT coding and CPT-4 on Observation accounts when applicable.
• Familiarity with coding audits and denial management processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Apply CPT coding and CPT-4 on Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission.
• Complete coding for 100% of discharged accounts daily to meet AR goals.
• Monitor ACHA, DNFB, and Post Bill Error reports (rebills, edits, denials).
• Coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on coding documentation.
• Mentor Coders, CDI and staff; conduct audits and training.
• Utilize encoder and EHR systems and maintain strong communication.
