Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) to join a remote team handling IP and OP accounts.

You will code using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT, ensuring accurate coding and high DRG quality, while collaborating with staff to ensure timely submissions.

Candidates must have 5+ years IP PCS experience, CCS certification, and proficiency with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC. Immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IP PCS coding experience required
• CCS certification is required
• Pass coding assessment test (IP and/or OP) will be required

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to identify principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, aiming for high accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments on each coded record with system assistance.
• Maintain consistent performance with productivity and quality.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed and coordinates with staff as required.
• Stay current on coding guidelines by reviewing literature and sharing updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management in a reliable manner.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities in coding.
• Collaborate with team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
