Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and CCS certification, with proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.

The position requires strong knowledge of inpatient/outpatient coding, DRG optimization, and familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC systems. Start date is immediate, with a standard daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of IP PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• Remote 100% work-from-home arrangement.
• Full-time weekday schedule; start immediately.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure accurate coding with ~95% accuracy and optimal DRG assignments.
• Apply coding guidelines and stay current with updates.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to obtain missing information.
• Complete assignments as directed and pursue ongoing education.
• Maintain productivity and quality in coding tasks.
• Handle inquiries and escalate as needed.
• Support client-specific coding requirements.
• Participate in team efforts to meet department goals.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
