Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. Requires at least 5 years of inpatient PCS coding experience and 3 years of OP coding experience; CCS certification is mandatory. Schedule is full-time, weekdays with regular day shift.

Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT and coding references is essential. Familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC is preferred. Immediate start with a coding assessment as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years inpatient PCS coding experience.
• CCS certification is required.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS and CPT coding references.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures to optimize accuracy.
• Aim for optimal DRG assignments with system assistance.
• Maintain consistent performance and productivity/quality.
• Hold accounts when more information is needed for accurate coding.
• Stay current on coding guidelines and share updates with team.
• Complete assignments as directed by management.
• Pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Collaborate with team to meet goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
