Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, delivering design, construction and maintenance for utility-scale solar, storage and high voltage substations. The HV SCADA Engineer II supports design, configuration, testing and commissioning of HV SCADA systems on renewable projects, under established standards and supervision.

This role can be fully remote or located in Bend, OR, San Diego, CA, or Raleigh, NC with travel about 20% for on-site commissioning;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years SCADA experience, preferably with substation systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings including SLDs, layouts, diagrams.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters.
• Experience with substation communications: fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet.
• Familiarity with IEC61131-3 languages and industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA).

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA requirements for substations on renewable projects (Solar, BESS, wind).
• Support HV SCADA design development and drawings to meet project specs.
• Verify substation points lists against relay and meter settings.
• Program and commission RTACs, PDConcentrators, and HMIs.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communications between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians during commissioning.
• Ensure installation matches drawings and site conditions.
