Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to design, configure, test, and commission high voltage SCADA systems for utility-scale renewables and substations. You will support EPC delivery under established standards and supervision, with travel required up to 20% onsite.

The role offers flexibility to be fully remote or based in Bend, OR; San Diego, CA; or Raleigh, NC, with interviews outlining location specifics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2-4 years of SCADA engineering experience, ideally with substation SCADA systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings including Electrical Single-line, Equipment Layout, and communications diagrams.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters used in substations.
• Experience coordinating with utility companies for interconnection and standards compliance.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, and IEC61131-3 Structured Text.
• Experience with acSELerator RTAC and acSELerator Quickset software.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA or other HMI design software.
• Knowledge of SCADA networks (Fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with PLC environments (Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson).
• Understanding of industrial automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Excellent communication and ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA requirements for substations tied to renewable energy projects.
• Support SCADA system design, development drawings, and project specs.
• Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings files.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMIs.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians for on-site support.
• Compare project drawings to site conditions to ensure correct installation.
• Travel for the role is required; approximately 20% onsite.
• Identify and learn software/hardware used by the organization.
• Collaborate with project management to report status, risks, and mitigations.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance in programming and commissioning.
• Provide feedback to product teams to improve the SOLV SCADA Platform.
• Maintain safe working environment per company and industry standards.
