Job summary

SOLV Energy is hiring an HV SCADA Engineer II to design, configure, test and commission HV SCADA systems for utility-scale renewables and substations. The role supports EPC delivery under established standards and can be fully remote or based in Bend, OR; San Diego, CA; or Raleigh, NC. Travel about 20% for on-site work and commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of SCADA experience, strong wiring/diagram reading, and proficiency with RTAC, ignition, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience, preferably with substation SCADA systems.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and control drawings (Singe-line, Equipment Layout, Communications Diagrams).
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters.
• Experience with sequencing and programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python, IEC61131-3).
• Experience with SEL RTAC and acSELerator tools; Ignition or other HMI software.
• Familiarity with SCADA networks (Fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet) and PLC environments.
• Understanding of industrial automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Excellent communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations connected to utility-scale projects (PV, storage, wind).
• Support HV SCADA system design, development, and drawings to meet project specs.
• Verify substation points lists against relay and meter settings.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMI systems.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations and on-site commissioning.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and field technicians; ensure installation accuracy.
