Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a highly experienced High Voltage Preconstruction Project Manager to lead all preconstruction activities for HV electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission, and BESS. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical construction, high-voltage projects, estimating, or project management.
• 3+ years leading preconstruction activities preferred.
• Experience with substations, transmission lines, utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or industrial electrical projects.
• Experience managing projects exceeding $10M preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts for HV projects ranging from 12kV through 500kV+ systems.
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
• Develop project execution strategies aligned with client objectives and company goals.
• Coordinate preconstruction deliverables from inception through construction turnover.
• Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates.
• Analyze designs, specs, and bid documents.
• Review labor productivity, equipment requirements, and material pricing.
• Develop quantity takeoffs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain estimating databases and market pricing trends.
• Serve as primary preconstruction point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Participate in project pursuit and proposals.
• Facilitate project kickoff and alignment sessions.
• Build and maintain client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify project risks related to scope, schedule, procurement, labor, permitting, and site conditions.
• Lead constructability reviews and value-engineering initiatives.
• Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
• Review execution plans for safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Collaborate on detailed project schedules with engineering, operations, and procurement.
• Identify long-lead equipment like transformers, breakers, switchgear, protection systems.
• Monitor critical path activities and milestones.
• Support procurement strategy development and bid evaluation.
• Develop scopes of work and vendor packages.
• Analyze supplier capabilities and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align estimates, schedules, and execution plans.
• Ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to construction operations.
