Job summary

CAI is seeking an HR Compliance Manager to lead our HR compliance program across a multi-state workforce, turning federal, state, and local requirements into clear policies and reliable operations.

This full-time remote role requires deep HR compliance knowledge, strong leadership, and a proven ability to partner with HR, Legal, Governance, and IT to manage risk and support AI governance. You will own the Employee Manual and lead audits to keep CAI audit-ready.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, legal studies, or a related field.
• Seven or more years of progressive HR compliance or employment law experience, including multi-state compliance.
• Two or more years of experience managing or leading people, and experience drafting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Own the Employee Manual and HR compliance policies and SOPs; publish and review annually.
• Set program priorities and the annual roadmap; maintain the compliance calendar and tracking tools; report status and risks to leadership.
• Monitor federal/state/local employment laws; advise on wage/hour, leave, pay transparency, and covenants; partner with outside counsel on complex matters.
• Prepare and submit workforce reports and certifications (EEO-1, state pay data) and affirmative action plan.
• Own background checks, drug screens, and MVR standards and adjudication framework; define screening requirements.
• Identify required compliance training by jurisdiction and client; support rollout and tracking.
• Monitor AI laws affecting hiring and governance; review AI tools for compliance and risk; develop AI use policies.
• Partner with HRIS and Onboarding to define Workday compliance workflows and reporting; escalate risks as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop the team; make policy-based decisions and elevate high-risk matters.
