Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Testing Principal (MUMPS) to lead QA for mission-critical healthcare systems in a remote capacity. The role requires deep experience with MUMPS/InterSystems Cache, HL7/FHIR/EDI, and large-scale regulated environments.

You will design detailed test plans, drive testing strategies, and mentor junior testers while collaborating with VA stakeholders. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in software testing, strong data integrity validation, and hands-on

Qualifications

• Experience testing healthcare, government, or regulated environments.
• Experience testing enterprise healthcare applications.
• Experience maintaining legacy, mission-critical systems.
• Experience testing MUMPS/InterSystems Cache applications.
• Ability to validate healthcare workflows and system functionality.
• Ability to build detailed test plans, scenarios, scripts, and cases.
• Experience performing functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing.
• Knowledge of SDLC and testing methodologies.
• Ability to validate data integrity and database updates.
• Experience with test management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, TestRail).

Responsibilities

• Support QA activities for mission-critical healthcare apps in MUMPS/InterSystems Cache.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, scripts and procedures.
• Validate software enhancements, maintenance releases, defects, and upgrades.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, UAT, system and end-to-end testing.
• Test HL7, FHIR, EDIs and related healthcare standards.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners and end users.
• Develop test data and environments for healthcare workflows.
• Execute manual and automated testing where applicable.
• Track defects, risks, and testing metrics and communicate status.
• Support VistA/FileMan testing and healthcare interoperability.
• Lead testing efforts and mentor junior testers.
