Cengage Group in the United States is seeking a strategic Director of Web Experience & Performance to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our web ecosystem as a driver of customer engagement and growth.

The role reports to the VP of Marketing Operations and leads a global web team, guiding transformation initiatives, experimentation, AI-enabled optimization, and performance metrics across B2B/B2C markets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading web, digital experience, optimization, or digital marketing functions.
• Proven success developing a web conversion optimization strategy with measurable business outcomes.
• Experience leading large-scale web transformation, migration, or consolidation initiatives in enterprise companies.
• Deep expertise in CMS, asset management, web analytics, customer journey optimization, SEO, experimentation, personalization, digital measurement, and experience management.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled optimization technologies, and modern digital experience ecosystems.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and privacy regulations.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the enterprise web strategy, including experience architecture and platform roadmap.
• Own key web performance metrics: engagement, conversion, journeys, and growth.
• Identify opportunities to enhance site performance via analytics, research, and experimentation.
• Partner with marketing, product, and analytics to establish measurement frameworks.
• Prioritize digital investments based on customer impact and business value.
• Build and scale an experimentation program across web experiences and journeys.
• Incorporate automation, personalization, and AI to accelerate improvement.
• Lead large-scale web transformation initiatives with IT and product teams.
• Lead a global web operations team with clear goals and growth plans.
