Job summary

Cengage is seeking a Director of Web Experience Design to shape the vision and strategy for our web ecosystem. You will lead a design team, set high standards for experience quality and craft, and drive measurable impact across discovery, engagement, e-commerce, and conversion.

You will partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to test ideas, optimize conversion, and deliver differentiated experiences that connect customers with Cengage products and services.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management experience leading design teams.
• Strong e‑commerce, growth, or conversion optimization experience.
• Deep UX/UI design expertise, human-centered design, accessibility and responsive design.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with ability to influence senior leaders.
• A portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience and establish a clear UX/UI strategy for discovery, evaluation, purchase and engagement.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to develop hypotheses, prototype ideas, and run A/B and multivariate tests.
• Advance e‑commerce and conversion experiences and continually improve high‑value conversion moments.
• Design across the full customer journey from acquisition to onboarding and engagement.
• Mentor designers to strengthen UX and UI craft and develop future design leaders.
