Job summary

Affirm is building its first fully-featured ads platform to enable a best-in-class shopping destination for merchants and customers. The Marketplace Performance team drives GMV through cross-functional collaboration across Revenue, TAM, CSM and Merchant partners.

The role leads technical strategy for backend systems, emphasizes reliability, scalability and high-quality code. This is a remote-first, US-wide position with strong compensation and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long horizon and align with business goals.
• Collaborate across product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and identify risks.
• Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes to improve reliability.
• Own team operations, monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, and on-call readiness.
• Set code review and design standards and propagate them beyond the team.
• Mentor and develop team members through feedback and leading by example.
