Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering (Marketplace Performance) to lead a high-visibility backend platform that powers ads and monetization in the marketplace. This remote US role partners with product, design, and analytics to deliver scalable systems and reliable deployments.

You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and shape operational practices while ensuring high availability and performance across AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
Experience with Python or Kotlin.
Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
2+ years in Ad Tech or related platforms.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
Collaborate across product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and trade-offs.
Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes.
Own team operations and on-call readiness with monitoring and playbooks.
Set code review and design standards and propagate them beyond the team.
Develop talent through feedback and mentoring.
