Job summary

Affirm is building the next-generation ads platform to empower merchants and customers. This role focuses on setting long-term technical strategy for backend systems at scale, and collaborating across product, design, and analytics to ensure robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing consumer experiences using React.
• 2+ years in Ad Tech or related platforms.
• Ability to deliver major features with execution plans.
• Comfort with ambiguity and system architecture.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale and align with business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics to ensure sustainability, risks and trade-offs are understood.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating technical solutions and processes.
• Own team operations and availability with monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code review standards and cross-team advocacy.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and leading by example.
