Job summary

Thomson Power Systems, a Regal Rexnord company, is expanding its field service team in the United States. The Field Service Technician will lead start-up, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and ATS at customer sites.

This hands-on role requires diagnosing issues, implementing maintenance programs, and delivering high-quality service while complying with safety standards. Remote work is allowed from approved locations with flexibility based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on maintenance on power distribution and control equipment.
• Experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing breakers, transformers, switchgear and related equipment.
• Knowledge of health, safety, electrical codes (CSA, NFPA, UL).
• Proficient with PC tools (email, Word, Excel, OneNote) and mobile apps.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Strong customer-service orientation and solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for installed-base customers.
• Perform field service: site assessments, installation, start-up, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of power systems.
• Lead commissioning, upgrades, and modernization to meet specs before handoff.
• Troubleshoot and repair paralleling switchgear, ATS, and control systems at customer sites.
• Complete field projects on schedule with safety and quality compliance.
• Coordinate with Field Service team and TPS HQ in Langley, BC, for alignment.
• Build strong customer/vendor relationships and provide timely follow-up.
