Job summary

Thomson Power Systems, a Regal Rexnord company, is expanding its service team in Las Vegas, NV. A hands‑on Field Service Technician will start up, test, and commission low‑ and medium‑voltage switchgear and ATS, traveling to customer sites to ensure proper installation and operation.

The role requires strong electrical knowledge, 10+ years of field experience, and ability to troubleshoot complex power systems while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands‑on preventive and predictive maintenance on power distribution and control equipment.
• Experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical, control, and automation equipment.
• Proven experience starting up and commissioning low‑ and medium‑voltage generator paralleling switchgear.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and electrical codes and standards (CSA, NFPA, UL).
• Proficient with PC tools including email, Word, Excel, and OneNote, plus mobile apps for daily work.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings with accuracy.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% as required by customer/business needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage predictive and preventative maintenance programs for installed‑base customers in Las Vegas and surrounding area.
• Execute all aspects of field service work, including site assessments, equipment installation, start‑up, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of power distribution, control, and automation systems.
• Lead and support complex commissioning, upgrade, and modernization activities, ensuring systems are properly configured, validated, and performing to specification prior to customer handoff.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, service, and repair on paralleling switchgear, ATS, control systems, and related mechanical equipment.
• Complete assigned field projects on schedule, meeting all customer functional, safety, quality, and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with the local Field Service team and TPS HQ in Langley, BC, to ensure alignment and operational excellence.
• Build and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships, delivering high standard of technical service and responsiveness.
• Provide timely follow‑up to customer requests and clear issue resolution.
• Accurately track and submit project documentation, including field service reports and expense reports.
• Support the Technical Call Desk with diagnostics and guidance.
• Adhere to testing procedures for breakers, switchgear, relays, and control equipment for safety and reliability.
• Support technical training programs for customers, partners, and employees.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of engineering drawings for accuracy and constructability.
