Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States is seeking a Field Access Manager to serve as the subject-matter expert on access issues for healthcare professionals and organizations.

This remote/field-based role supports cross-functional teams to ensure timely patient access to therapy and to navigate payer coverage, benefits, and patient assistance programs. The FAM will analyze access trends, educate providers and field teams, and coordinate with the access hub.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in patient support, pharmaceutical/healthcare sales or operations, or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures (Medicare Part B, Medicaid, commercial) and related access processes.
• Expertise in pharmaceutical compliance and HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment with 20-25% travel.
• Must reside in the New England South assigned territory.
• Team player able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to reach goals.
• Must be at least 21 with valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and education to HCP accounts on patient access, including benefit verification and prior authorization.
• Analyze access trends and identify barriers to patient access.
• Partner cross-functionally to address access barriers and support patient satisfaction.
• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to support patient access to therapy.
• Monitor payer trends to address access barriers and provide information to HCP offices.
• Educate field teams on access processes and hub programs.
• Escalate and coordinate access issues with hub vendors and third parties.
• Provide information on how products are covered under various benefit designs.
