Job summary

Merck & Co. is recruiting a Field Access Manager (FAM) to serve as the subject-matter expert on access issues for healthcare professionals and organizations.

You will work cross-functionally with patient support, market access, and field sales to ensure timely patient access to therapy. You will educate providers on access processes, reimbursement, and patient assistance programs, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and strong payer relationship management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years in patient support, pharmaceutical/healthcare sales, operations, or reimbursement.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures (Medicare Part B, Medicaid, commercial) and related access processes.
• Expertise in HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment with 20-25% travel; Must reside in the New England South assigned territory.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to engage and influence multiple stakeholders across teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and education to HCP accounts on patient access, including benefit verification, prior authorization, and appeals processes.
• Analyze access trends.
• Partner cross-functionally to identify and address barriers to patient access and support patient satisfaction.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to support seamless patient access to therapy.
• Monitor payer trends to address access barriers.
• Provide access information to HCP offices.
• Provide education to field teams on approved direction.
• Escalate and coordinate on access issues with third parties including hub vendor.
• Educate on Specialty Pharmacy issues.
• Explain product coverage under different payer designs (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Answer payer-specific access questions.
• Maintain knowledge of market dynamics and payer policies.
• Act as SME on access and affordability across payer types.
• Educate HCPs on hub program and patient support offerings.
• Discuss access resources and payer processes/policies.
• Attend National and Regional Meetings.
