Job summary

Merck is seeking a Field Access Manager to serve as the subject‑matter expert on access issues for healthcare professionals and organizations. The FAM will partner with patient support, market access, and field sales to ensure timely patient access to therapy, providing education on access and reimbursement and coordinating with the hub for patient cases.

The role is remote/field-based across an assigned geography, requiring 20–25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7+ years in patient support, pharma/healthcare sales or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures and access processes.
• HIPAA/compliance knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote setting with 20–25% travel.
• Must reside in the New England South assigned territory.

Responsibilities

• Provide information/education to HCP accounts on patient access (benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals).
• Analyze access trends and payer barriers to improve patient access.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Field Sales, Market Access, and other teams.
• Build trusted internal relationships to support seamless patient access.
• Educate field teams on access processes and payer policies.
• Escalate access issues with third parties (hub vendor) as needed.
• Educate HCP offices on hub programs, patient support offerings, and financial assistance.
• Attend national/regional meetings and stay updated on payer coverage changes.
