Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5–8 software engineers on the Enterprise Learning & Skills platform. You will guide delivery, ensure high engineering standards, and partner with Product, Customer Success, and vendors to translate requirements into reliable software.

You’ll own onboarding and skill development, maintain team health, and drive continuous improvement while focusing on secure, ethical engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years managing or leading a software engineering team.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, PostgreSQL and API design/management.
• Proven track record delivering reliable software with quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of engineers building Ruby on Rails services and React frontends.
• Plan and allocate daily and sprint work; monitor progress and adjust priorities.
• Troubleshoot blockers and coordinate handoffs across engineers, teams, and vendors.
• Triage bugs and production issues; maintain coding and QA standards and team docs.
• Provide real-time feedback and conduct regular 1:1s; celebrate milestones.
