Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Enterprise Learning & Skills engineering team. You will guide 5–8 engineers building a large-scale API-driven platform used globally to issue and verify digital credentials.

You’ll own onboarding, growth, and delivery, partner with Product and Customer Success, and ensure high engineering standards. This is a remote, leadership role with strong emphasis on team health and scalable delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience and 2+ years managing or leading a software engineering team.
• Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, PostgreSQL and API management.
• Proven track record of reliable daily delivery and team performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of 5–8 engineers building Ruby on Rails services and React frontends.
• Plan and allocate daily and sprint work, monitor progress and adjust priorities.
• Troubleshoot blockers, clarify requirements, and coordinate handoffs with teams and vendors.
• Triage bugs and production issues with attention to customer impact.
• Maintain coding, QA standards, code reviews, and team documentation.
• Provide real-time feedback, conduct regular 1:1s, and celebrate milestones.
• Own onboarding and skill development for new engineers; drive process improvements.
• Champion responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
