Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5–8 software engineers on the Enterprise Learning & Skills (ELS) team. The role focuses on people leadership, delivery health, and growing team capability for a large-scale, API-driven platform used globally to issue and verify digital credentials.

You will prioritize work, remove blockers, guide design discussions, onboard new members, and partner with Product, Customer Success, and vendors to turn requirements into reliable delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years managing or leading a software engineering team.
• Experience guiding API-driven platforms and scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of engineers, owning wellbeing, performance, and output.
• Plan and allocate daily and sprint work to keep projects on track.
• Troubleshoot blockers and coordinate handoffs across engineers, teams, and vendors.
• Triage bugs and production issues with attention to detail.
• Maintain coding standards, QA processes, and team documentation.
• Provide real-time feedback and run regular 1:1s.
