Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hosting an in-person hiring event in Waco, TX on 11/04/2026 for Eligibility Advisor I. This role supports a range of public assistance programs including SNAP, TANF and Medicaid, evaluating eligibility and assisting applicants.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, with 1 year of customer service experience; 60 credit hours preferred. Telework eligible, travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours preferred.
• One year of customer service experience with public contact is required.
• Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours may be substituted for one year of experience.
• Experience interviewing clients and gathering personal information is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Enter data into a computer-based eligibility system from various sources.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determinations.
• Process work per state/federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
