Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) invites applications for the Eligibility Advisor I (Temporary). The role supports the Access and Eligibility Services division, focusing on determining eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, and related programs.

The position is temporary, ends 08/31/2027, and requires strong customer service, data entry, and regulatory knowledge within a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience with public contact required or preferred.
• High School diploma or GED; 60 college hours preferred for substituted experience.
• Ability to learn policy regulations and apply them in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants in person or by phone to collect financial data for eligibility.
• Enter information into eligibility systems and verify data across sources.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on rules and guidelines.
• Process work in line with state and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
