Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Midland, TX seeks an Eligibility Advisor I (Temporary) to determine financial eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and other programs. This is a temporary, full-time role ending 08/31/2027 with potential transfer opportunities based on performance and vacancies.

Responsibilities include interviewing applicants, data entry, calculating benefits, and ensuring compliance with state and federal rules.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; 60 sem/90 quarter hours preferred.
• Experience: 1 year of customer service with public contact.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Able to work overtime and in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Enter data into computer-based eligibility system.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility.
• Process work per regulations, guidelines, and timelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
