Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm in Vernon, TX is hiring a temporary Eligibility Advisor I to determine financial eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and related programs. The role includes interviewing applicants, collecting information, evaluating data, and authorizing benefits while adhering to state and federal regulations.

This is a temporary position ending 08/31/2027 with potential transfer to a regular role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Experience in customer service with public contact is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and recipients to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Evaluate data from various sources and enter information into eligibility systems.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determinations.
• Process work according to regulations, guidelines and timeframes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
