Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Access and Eligibility Services (AES) division seeks an Eligibility Advisor I - Temporary to assist Texans with food, medical care, cash assistance and other social services. This temporary role ends 2027-08-31 and may transfer to a regular position based on need and performance.

The role requires strong multi-tasking, policy understanding, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Sixty (60) semester hours from college or university preferred.
• Customer service experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for public assistance.
• Enter information into a computer-based eligibility system.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determinations.
• Process work following state and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
